Day 3: The Amityville Horror (1979)

Why I love it:

  • It’s a movie based on a book that is based on true events.
  • One of the best movies that deals with the classic haunted house theme.
  • The acting is pretty good–especially James Brolin who does a great job of turning into a real asshole as the house begins to torment his mind.
  • The Catholic church is featured which is a common theme in films that deal with demonic possession. It’s always the Catholics.
  • It’s a 70’s horror flick.
  • The movie doesn’t stray too much from the book, but the book is much scarier.
  • It will make you want to sleep with the lights on.
  • Jody, the little girl’s ghostly friend–who in the book is actually a demonic pig! “Jody doesn’t like George.” said the little girl Amy about her stepfather.
