Day 8: The Dunwich Horror (1970)

Why I love it:

  • The film is based on a story by the infamous occult author, H.P. Lovecraft and it deals with this kooky guy who is dying to get his hands on the Necronomicon, the legendary book that is said to raise demons from another dimension aka “the old ones”.
  • Sandra Dee, the goody-goody actress who starred as the wholesome Gidget, plays the chick that Wilbur is trying to sacrifice in this dark and sexually-suggestive film.
  • It’s a good B-movie from American International Pictures, the movie house that brought you The Trip (1966), Blacula (1972), Foxy Brown (1974), Cooley High (1975) and The Amityville Horror (1979).
  • The weird and creepy faces Dean Stockwell makes.
  • It’s cheesy, kind of slow moving, but it is a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon if you like old movies.
  • It’s a 70’s horror flick.
  • Dean Stockwell’s soft, hypnotic voice which is a trigger for my ASMR addiction. If you don’t know what ASMR is, Google it.
