Venus in Sagittarius: The Sequined Goddess of Love

Venus has now entered Sagittarius so it’s now time for her to do it up big. Venus in Sagittarius is forever in search of ideal conditions, albeit she’s not as anal as Venus in Virgo or as uncompromising as Venus in Pisces. If it’s the best however, Venus in Sag wants it. For Venus in Sagittarius it’s not so much about the monetary value of things as it is the quality and exclusivity. If this fiery Venus can snag an expensive item at half off because it was not favored by the masses, she feels like a winner. Venus in Sagittarius does not long for that which is ubiquitous, she wants the exotic, the rare, and the highly cherished. Sacred items can run the gamut from a prized medieval steel dagger to  a one-of-a kind purple 1972 Stingray Corvette. Oh yes, Venus in Sagittarius will not shy away from sports cars and sports in general come naturally to her.

When it comes to relationships it’s best that you give this girl plenty of space. She may be a bit awkward when it comes to outward displays of affection, but she’s a tiger in the bedroom. Venus in Sag may not be into PDA, but behind closed doors her unbridled animal nature takes over. Venus in Sagittarius may have had many of lovers from Texas to Tibet, but she’s searching for the ideal and when she finds this special someone she will be more than happy to settle down for eternity. As long as Venus in Sagittarius has the freedom to be herself and space to grow (knocking things over in the process–clumsy Sag) she will be faithful. She has so much love to give so you better be ready to give as much in return. Venus in Sagittarius may blindly rush into a relationship or marriage over mere sexual chemistry only to wake up a few days later plotting on how they will make her exit.

Believe it or not, Venus in Sagittarius has a high degree of morals and an unwavering sense of decency when it comes to her public life. She makes one helluva an attorney and an honest politician–if Venus is not afflicted by planets such as Pluto and Neptune. Venus in Sagittarius is lucky in matters of love and money. This is the type of woman who gets married a few months before her soulmate hits the Powerball Jackpot.  Her partner surprises her with expensive, yet meaningful gifts such as a vacation in Bali or a chef’s table dinner at a 5-star restaurant. Venus in Sagittarius just doesn’t receive however, she gives–a lot. Venus in Sag is very generous and when wealthy, can be quite the humble philanthropist.

In terms of fashion and personal style, Venus in Sagittarius likes to stand out in a crowd. Venus in Sag loves colorful patterns, unique prints, and multi-cultural ensembles. Every time a fashion fad emerges that takes from a foreign influence like the 60’s Nehru jacket or those Chinese shoes from the 70’s it is Venus in Sagittarius at work. While being no stranger to extravagance, Venus in Sagittarius is just as likely to venture into a thrift shop as they are Nordstrom in an attempt to find clothing  which allows her to express what she views as her avant garde sensibilities. Of all the signs, Venus in Sagittarius (Leo coming  in at a close second) is the most mortified by showing up to a party and seeing someone with the same outfit. She sees herself as a goddess so how dare a mere mortal copy her style. Venus in Sagittarius is attracted to sequins, leathers, furs, and silks. She is one of the few who can pull off looks such as leather sweatpants that just wouldn’t make sense if others were to wear it. Venus in Sag loves a fine cashmere sweater, but her carelessness or lack of attention to detail, may result in its quick demise as she mindlessly tosses it in the washing machine.  She’s into exotic and foreign artwork and if she’s an artist her work will have a Universal appeal.

Sagittarius: Freewheeling via Purposeful Free-Willing

centaur_by_perzo-d4sb472

Since we are at the final day of Sagittarius, I thought I’d better do a write up about the fiery archer, the sign that I was born under (Dec 5th). In true Sagittarian fashion, I have procrastinated to the very end when it came to writing this post, but today I just couldn’t let this season pass without representing my sign, the 9th sign of the zodiac. The 3rd and final fire sign that represents freedom, growth, expansion, higher education, philosophy, spirituality, religion, the law, wealth, abundance, generosity, faith, optimism, and aspirations. Sagittarius rules long-range travel and exotic locales. It upholds truth, ethics, and morality.

I love being a Sagittarius even with all of its flaws (namely procrastination, recklessness, irresponsibility, excess, wantonness, and insensitivity). Of course as an archer my end goal is freedom. When freedom is coupled with a healthy dose of responsibility and discipline what you get is essentially Freewheeling via purposeful Free-Willing–what it truly means to live as a Self-actualized Sagittarius. Many successful Sagittarians have done it through the physical/animal (i.e. sports, entertainment), an equal amount through the human/spiritual (i.e. spirituality, religion). I am of the latter cohort; my spiritual advising practice being my mode of Free-Willing.

I feel that I am almost there. I was recently laid off from a position that began to become increasingly oppressive. I was thankful for the dismissal. The company I worked for engaged in some downsizing and me and another worker within my department were let go. Our positions were “no longer needed” is what we were told. I knew I was at the end before the lay off occurred so I wasn’t dismayed. I had been circulating my resume for a few months prior.

Unfortunately, I am still not in a financial position to do what I love 24/7 so I had to transition into another job. I went on a few interviews prior to finding my current job, received a few job offers, but none of them seemed to be the right fit. The Sun and Mercury were transiting my house of career (10th house)  at the time so I knew that I was primed to get something quickly. I also knew that I had some cosmic leeway in terms of being able to sift through the job offers that seemed too confining. After doing a 2nd job spell (the first spell producing a job offer within 3 days, but I ended up declining due to the incompatible energy present at the company), I ended up choosing to work for a small private school doing basic accounting work. It’s a 2-person department including myself. I am the assistant to the Controller. The icing on the cake is that it’s a part-time position, working 27.5 hours a week. “30 hours a week or less” was one of the conditions of my job spell. The pay is decent and administration is laid back and flexible. The private school is in an affluent area. It is within a mountainous community peppered with spacious 4-car garage, southwestern style homes. My short commute is scenic with expansive vistas of brick red rock which provide the backdrop for that nook of the valley. It’s a perfect set up for my Sagittarian nature. My job’s surrounding environment exudes wealth, expansiveness, and abundance. Paradise Valley, Arizona is right outside of Phoenix, but once you enter the small city, it feels like you’re  being transported into a mystical time and space. I call it “Bedrock” as in The Flintstones cartoon. I’m sure that a lot of Arizona natives take Paradise Valley for granted, but since I’m a transplant from the East Coast, even 9 years after my sojourn, the desert landscape still takes my breath away. The part-time hours challenge me to aim higher and expand as far as my business is concerned.

I’m taking a risk by accepting this part-time job, but I also have several ways of earning money. I’m at a cross roads right now astrologically and January will be a pivotal month with transiting Pluto in Capricorn landing on my natal Moon  and transiting Saturn landing on my Neptune and Sun in Sagittarius. I’m toying around with the idea of leasing some part-time office space. I was toying around with the idea of doing some area swap meets, but the cards said ‘meh” so that arrow will remain in my quiver.

If you have been following my blog for some time you will know by now that I detest the whole 9 to 5, better, 9 to 6 paradigm. I would think that most Sagittarians do. Perhaps a Sagittarius could find happiness in a 9 to 6 with high pay, full benefits and plenty of freedom and flexibility. However, those kinds of jobs are hard to come by. This archer right here needs to do her own thing ultimately, 24/7. Now that I’m 40 and  the ticking of my entrepreneurial clock can no longer be ignored, I must be willing to take bigger risks for the chance of bigger returns. The worst that can happen is that I would have to succumb to full time employment if my business ideas do not work out. Right now, that is not even an option though.

Time to pull back that bow and aim for the brightest star and if I should miss the 1st or even 2nd time around, I’ll still have plenty of arrows. Sagittarius has an endless supply.
